ELLSWORTH — Hoisington's state pole champion Josiah Ball swept the pole vault (14-6), 110-meter hurdles (15.33) and 300-meter hurdles (41.62) at Tuesday's Ellsworth Track Invitational.

Hoisington's Caiden Hoffman won the shot put (50-43/4) and discus (132-5). Kamden Tarlton won the 1,600 meters (4:42.65).

Runner-up finishes were earned by Hoisington's 400-meter relay (44.69) and 3,200-meter relay (11:09.64).

Cardinal freshman Marley Bittel won the 100 meters (12.6) and 200 meters (26.69).

Defending 3A pole vault champion Shellamae Farmer won the pole vault (11-6). Cardinal Sofia Simic was runner-up in the high jump (4-10).

"We posted outstanding times, distance, and heights at Ellsworth," said Hoisington coach Daniel Schmidt. "Our coaching staff was impressed with our team's overall efforts. Hoisington is well represented in top performances in Class 3A."

The Cardinals travel to Lindsborg Friday.

"Lindsborg is a top-notch meet," Schmidt said. "We have to exceed past performances to have a shot at scoring significant points. It should be tons of fun to compete at Lindsborg."

Lauren Oeser led the Central Plains Oilers with a runner-up javelin throw (126-11).
