WILSON — Two-time state qualifier Otis-Bison stunned No. 5 state-ranked Sylvan Grove-Lucas Luray 25-23, 25-16 in the 1A Wilson volleyball semifinals. Sylvan-Lucas ends with a 32-4 record. Red-hot Victoria downed Otis-Bison 25-23, 25-18 in Tuesday's championship match, but the Cougars advance to the 1A substate tournament at Ransom-Western Plains Saturday.

Otis-Bison (26-12) plays Atwood Rawlins Co. (25-11) Saturday and Kensington Thunder Ridge (32-3) plays Dighton (21-11) in the second semifinal at Ransom.

Lauren Maier and Cristen Trapp delivered the final two winning spikes against Sylvan-Lucas in set 1. Cougars Maddie Wiltse, Lauren Maier and Cristen Trapp dominated the attacking in the second set. Others contributing were Kailyn Loucks, Kaleigh Maier, Danica Bartonek, Sidney Schneider and defensive specialist Hannah Tanger.

Victoria rallied from a 17-7 deficit for a 26-24 victory and won the third set 25-16 after the Oilers won 25-15. Oilers Addison Crites, Delaney Rugan, Rachel Lamatsch, Rylee Cunningham, Ryenne Cunningham, Kassidy Nixon and Avery Hurley were competing at a high level.

ST. JOHN — The St. John Tigers upset top-seed Little River 25-22, 25-22 and won the regional championship with a 25-23, 25-20 victory over third-seeded Pretty Prairie. The Tigers (15-24) advance to Saturday's 1A substate at Greensburg against South Central (29-7). No. 2 state-ranked Spearville (37-0) plays Satanta (13-21) in the second semifinal.

SPEARVILLE — No. 2 seeded Pawnee Heights ended its best volleyball season in recent history with a hard-fought 25-21, 25-11 loss to Minneola in the 1A semifinals. The Tigers (23-11) had beaten Minneola in their first two meetings, 25-11, 20-25, 28-26; and 25-18, 25-11 earlier in the season. Spearville defeated Minneola, 25-20, 25-23 in the championship. Spearville (37-0) plays Satanta (13-21) and Minneola (24-13) plays South Gray (25-11) in Saturday's 1A Greensburg substate.
