Great Bend’s Tanner Howe threw a complete game to spark the Bat Cats past the Derby Twins 3-2 in Wednesday’s Sunflower Collegiate League baseball game.

All-Sunflower League Howe (4-1) yielded two early runs and shut out the Twins in the final seven innings. Howe struck out four batters and yielded no walks in a nifty 107-pitch outing.

The Bat Cats (10-5) travel to Andale Thursday and Friday. Derby drops to 9-8.

Bat Cat catcher Chase Gibson delivered the game-winning hit with a two-run homer in the seventh inning. Zach Poe singled and Gibson homered off losing pitcher Michael Mitchell.

Derby led 1-0 when Derrick Winn singled home Jaret Koin in the first inning. Bat Cat Luke Repka scored on Daunte Freeman’s first-inning groundout.

Derby’s Ryan McNally tripled and scored on Quinton Albrecht’s second-inning groundout.
