Bat Cats fall to 2-7 in close games
EL DORADO — This time, Mother Nature rained on the Great Bend Bat Cats. El Dorado walked away with a 4-3 Jayhawk League baseball victory Friday shortened to six innings by thunderstorms.
Friday featured the strangest game of the season. All seven runs were unearned and the Bat Cats had no hits in six innings. The Broncos scored four runs after two were out.
Great Bend (9-10, 4-9 Jayhawk) dropped to 2-7 in one-run games. El Dorado (6-8) has won two consecutive games.
The Bat Cats led 3-0 on three El Dorado errors and two hit batters. Nolan Riley scored on an error by the shortstop. Thomas Alexander scored on a passed ball and M Banks scored on a catching error for a 3-0 lead.
Bat Cat third baseman Nolan Riley started the the inning by turning a double play. But the Broncos scored three unearned runs when pitcher Austin Oblas misplayed a bunt. Conner Allen scored on an error and Tyler Bailey’s single scored Pete Carravallah and Tucker Catlett for a 3-3 tie.
El Dorado’s Caleb Littlejim scored the game-winning run on a fourth-inning error.
