After the final three home games were canceled, the Great Bend Bat Cats have scheduled a get-together for fans at 6:30 p.m. Monday night at Al Burns Field. The Great Bend Bat Cats (21-18) will travel to Derby Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for a season-ending series.
“We want to recognize everyone who have made this first season possible. We will sponsor a night for all sponsors, host families, and fans,” said Bat Cats coach Roger Ward.
Ward said it promises to be a fun evening.
“Let this be a night of kids playing with Bat Cats on the field, autographs, pictures and mingling,” he said. “We will have our concessions and beer tent open, as well as apparel.
“Regardless of how far we go, we believe we have one of the best teams in the Jayhawk League,” he said. “The support we have received has been humbling for a first year program, and we want to show you in person how appreciative we are. Please come out Monday, and celebrate what you’ve helped create.”
Ward said he’s been pleased by the Bat Cats’ first year.
“The Bat Cats are here to stay — for many years,” he said.
