BCC eSports team looks at post season play

As the final two weeks of the regular season close, the Barton Community College eSports team maintained its weekly winning streak to five straight with an 8-2 mark in week eight action.

As the season enters into its final week of the regular season, the Cougars as a team sit at 58-22 overall with three already securing spots in the upcoming NJCAAE postseason and five looking to join them in the final 11 matches of the fall season.

Call of Duty Cold War 4v4’s kick-started the first of six straight Barton victories to begin the week with a thrashing 3-0 victory over Borough of Manhattan Community College moving their season mark to 5-3.

The momentum carried over later into the evening with the Rocket League squad keeping its playoff hopes alive with a 3-0 win (6-0, 7-0, 2-1OT) over Alexandria Tech setting up a big match-up with Crowder College.

Already locked into the Madden 21 big dance, top-ranked Davon Morris improved his perfect record to 8-0 with a 2-0 rout over Hinds Community College. Teammate Chance Costello moved a step closer to clinching a spot in the playoffs cruising to a 2-0 victory over Hostos Community College improving his season to 6-2 overall.

Capping a perfect Tuesday, was the Cougars Rainbow 6 Siege squad as the group locked themselves into the NJCAAE postseason earning their sixth straight victory with a 2-0 win over North Central Missouri.

In Wednesday’s Super Smash Brothers tilts, Barton earned split decisions as fifth-ranked Nicholas Kohman made it two straight pulling off the upset over second-ranked Pennsylvania Highlands in a 3-2 thriller, boosting his season mark to 5-2 while building his case for an at-large bid in the upcoming postseason. Fourth-ranked Trent Keffer dropped a tough battle to top-ranked Snow College 3-0 dipping his record to 4-4 on the season.

Secured already in the COD: Cold War Gunfight 2v2 playoffs, top-ranked Adam Hardin and Kindric Castro kept their perfect season of 7-0 alive and 21-0 map streak intact with a 3-0 blowout victory over Navarro College. The third-ranked Cougar Blue squad of Bryce Hopkins and Keffer maintained their case for an at-large bid with a 3-0 victory over Grays Harbor.

Capping the Barton week was Joshua Neal in NBA2K as the freshman dropped his match to Bryant and Stratton 2-1 falling to 3-4 on the season.
