HUTCHINSON – Great Bend’s Kya Behr delivered seven hits and drove home nine runs as the Panther softball team roared past Hutchinson High 17-5 and 14-4 Thursday at Fun Valley. Behr is batting .688 (11 for 16) with 14 RBIs in four games.

PANTHERS 17, HUTCHINSON 5 (G1) – Red-hot Behr drove in four runs with four hits. DeShawnna Bryant ripped a 3-run homer and drove home four runs with three hits.

Paige Thexton scored two runs with two RBIs. Camdyn Post, Alyssa McCauley and Katherine Mazouch each drove home a run.

Pitcher Braelyn Turner (1-0) yielded five earned runs with five strikeouts.

The Panthers featured big scoring innings with a 5-run third, an 8-run fourth and 4-run sixth inning.

PANTHERS 17, HUTCHINSON 4 (G2) – Behr continued her torrid hitting with two doubles and five runs batted home. Bryant doubled and drove in two runs.

Mazouch, Kamryn Koelsch, Rylee Prilling and Chayla Prendergast each drove home one run.

Prendergast (3-0) struck out four batters and yielded four earned runs.

The Panthers (4-0) play Manhattan and McPherson at the Great Bend Sports Complex Monday.
