The Great Bend Boom gained a split of two games against the Garden City Wind with a 4-0 victory Wednesday at Al Burns Field. The Boom (7-4) play the Topeka Train Robbers Thursday and Friday at home. The Boom travel to Topeka Saturday and Sunday.
Boom pitcher Patrick Barnett (2-1) threw his second shutout and struck out six batters. Shortstop Logan Trowbridge turned a double play. Barnett has pitched 17 innings with a 1.08 earned run average.
Dominique Lincoln doubled home Kirby Campbell in a two-run second inning. Reece Bell scored on Barnett’s groundout for a 2-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Tevin Padgett reached on an error and scored on Logan Trowbridge’s single. In the seventh inning, Trowbridge singled home Matt Rembielak for a 4-0 lead.
The Wind won Tuesday’s game 6-5 when Ken Olszewski hit a game-winning homer against Boom pitcher Phillip Ramos. Olszewski also drilled a grand-slam homer for a 5-3 lead.
Darryl Baca had three hits for two RBIs for the Boom. Trowbridge, Kyle Schwartz and Campbell drove in runs.
