Hoisington girls, boys sweep track titles
HOISINGTON – Double winner Samantha Colson captured the 100 meters (12.97) and 100-meter hurdles (16.19) and anchored the 400-meter relay (51.52) to first place in Tuesday’s Hoisington Track Invitational.
Kylie Miller, Macy Hanzlick and Suzanna Schneider joined Colson on the 400-meter relay. The Cardinal girls won nine events and scored 222 points to finish first.
The Cardinals also captured the 3,200-meter relay (10:51.99) with Kynlie Crowdis, Jaci Guthrie, Paige Lamatsch and Sheena Gocela competing.
Other Cardinal first-place winners were Macy Hanzlick, 400 (1:05.37); Kylee Hahn, 300m hurdles (54.22); Shellamae Farmer, pole vault (9-6); Sheena Gocela, long jump (15-9) and Suzanna Schneider, javelin (102-10).
The Central Plains Oilers captured three events – Callie Zink, 800 (2:35.44); Brynna Hammeke, high jump (5-21/4); and the
1,600-meter relay (4:28.3) with Hammeke, Monica Short, Zink and Jennah Jeffrey competing.
Other girls winners were St. John’s Darby Smith, 1,600 (6:00.62) and Otis-Bison’s Kyra Ball, triple jump (31-63/4).
BOYS DIVISION – Cardinal double winners Ian Doss and Spencer Mintz led Hoisington to 169 points and first place in the Hoisington Track Invitational.
Doss swept the 800 (2:12.76) and 1,600 (4:58.75). Mintz captured the shot put (43-0) and discus (122-2).
The Cardinals’ relays were smoking as the 400-meter relay (45.03) placed first with Cade Mason, Mason Alderice, Deryk Yott and Chase Robinson. The 1,600-meter relay placed first (3:41.55) with Mason, Josiah Ball, Chase Robinson and Randy Chambers.
Central Plains Oiler Michael Laymon swept the high jump (5-6) and javelin (136-4).
Otis-Bison’s Jayce Kohls won the long jump (19-61/2).
