HOISINGTON — Hoisington’s Lady Cardinals shot down the Larned Indians 48-15 by converting nine of their final 10 shots.

Hoisington (5-14, 2-6 CKL) converted eight 3-pointers to outscore Larned 24-0. They made 9 of 11 shots in the second half to finish 17 of 33 for the game, 53%. They converted only 6 of 15 free throws. The Cardinals were led in scoring by Keeley Wolf and Kelsi Dalton with 10 apiece while Addy Mason added eight. Hoisington plays at Lyons Tuesday.

Hoisington jumped out to an 11-2 first quarter lead and erased any question about who would win. They increased that margin to 23-9 at halftime due, in large part, to Larned’s inability to make a free throw. On numerous occasions Larned ran good offense and got fouled but could not convert. By halftime Larned was 0 for 9 from the free throw line.

Hoisington wasn’t shooting free throws well either but they made up for it by shooting well from the field and making four first half three-point baskets. The Cardinals were able to extend their lead after three quarters to 36-11 and cruised home in the fourth quarter maintaining a substantial lead for their fifth win of the season.

“We ran our offense better tonight," said Larned coach Ashley Crosby. "We got the shots we wanted, we got the fouls we wanted but, Oh Boy, we could not make a free throw. That plus the hot shooting by Hoisington kind of sealed our fate.”

The Indians made 7 of 29 field goal attempts and missed 11 free throws and  1 of 15 three-pointers. Kendra Grandy led the Indians in scoring with 6 while Kaylee Mead added 4. Larned (0-18, 0-8 CKL) travels to Halstead Tuesday.
