WAKEENEY — Hoisington's girls wrestling team scored 1541/2 points to finish runner-up behind WaKeeney wrestling champion and No. 2 ranked 5A Wichita Kapaun Mt. Carmel (201 points).

The Cardinals earned four runner-up medals with Tristin Compton (135), No. 4 ranked Ayla Brown (155), No. 2 ranked Neveah Graves (190) and Amerie Hinz (235) placing second.

In championship matches, Plainville's Hayden Staab defeated Compton 8-1; Kapaun's Bella Green downed Brown 16-6; Plainville's No. 2 ranked Caydence Carter downed Graves 15-10; and Wichita Northwest's Grace Alessi edged Hinz 2-0.

Hoisington's Trinity Graves (125) placed third. Annabelle Gonzalez (115) and Mary Griffin (170) finished fourth.
