SCOTT CITY —Hoisington sprinter Marley Bittel swept the 100 meters (12.49) and 200 meters (26.89) and anchored the 400-meter relay (51.94) to first place with Shellamae Farmer, Mallory Mooney and Kelsi Maier at Wednesday's Scott City Track Invitational.
Defending 3A state champion Farmer won the pole vault (10-6).
Runner-up medals were earned by Tianna Lutters, 800 (2:38.77); Sophia Sonic, high jump (4-10) and the 1,600-meter relay (4:34.15) with Lutters, Maier, Simic and Bittel.
The Cardinal girls (98) finished runner-up behind Lakin (103).
"The Hoisington girls had an outstanding day. The athletes achieved season and personal bests on the boys and girls teams," said Hoisington coach Daniel Schmidt. "Key members competed well finishing second for the girls and third for the boys. The coaches are excited with many of the results. We look forward to getting better."
BOYS DIVISION — Defending 3A state champion Josiah Ball (14-0) matched his season best pole vault to lead 3A vaulters.
Cardinal Caiden Hoffman won the shot put (48-101/2).
Runner-up finishes were earned by Ball, 110-meter hurdles (14.75) and 300-meter hurdles (40.66); Kamden Tarlton, 3,200 (11:00.92); and Layton Hoffman, discus (134-0).
The Cardinal boys (78) placed third.
