HOISINGTON — Hoisington's girls routed Smoky Valley 8-1 and 17-1 in Thursday's Central Kansas League softball doubleheader.
CARDINALS 8, VIKINGS 1 (G1) — Hoisington's Claire Crutcher delivered a 2-run double and drove in three runs with three hits. The Cardinals had 16 hits, but hit into two double plays and had runners thrown out at home.
Ellie Crawford, Kylie Kempke and Carly Delzeit hit RBI singles in a crazy 3-run first inning. The Cardinals started with seven consecutive hits, but Mollie Steiner and Tricia Schremmer were thrown out at home to prevent a huge scoring inning.
Crutcher's first RBI scored Delzeit. Crutcher's 2-run double scored Marly Brewer and Delzeit. Crawford stole home and Brewer scored on an error.
CARDINALS 17, VIKINGS 1 (G2) —Reserve Gabby Reif enjoyed a career highlight with three hits, three runs and three RBIs. Reserve M Foulger nearly matched Reif with two hits, three runs and two RBIs.
Kempke and Paige Lamatsch also drove in two runs.
Crawford (8-2) yielded one run with four strikeouts.
