HUTCHINSON — Hoisington's runner-up Mason Martin shot 8-over-par 80 to spark the Cardinals (346) to a 2-stroke victory over Hutchinson Trinity (348) at Monday's Nickerson Golf Invitational at Crazy Horse Golf Course.
Martin birdied Nos. 2 and 5 and finished two strokes behind Hutchinson Trinity medalist Tyler Casebolt (78) in 75-degree weather with peak southerly winds blowing from 20 to 28 mph.
The Cardinals counted scores by 10th-place Kobe Crawford (88), Logan Cossel (89) and Bryson Kinman (89). Crawford birdied Nos. 1 and 2, but played 18-over-par after a perfect start.
Ellinwood's Luke Heinz (85) tied for sixth place keyed by birdies at Nos. 5 and 13. He finished 7-over on his final five holes.
