NICKERSON  — Hoisington's Drake Martin and Brody Corbett drove home runs as the Cardinals won 4-3 over Nickerson in Tuesday's Central Kansas League baseball game. Nickerson (1-5, 1-1 CKL) won the nightcap 13-8.

CARDINALS 4, NICKERSON 3 (G1) — Hoisington (2-4, 1-1 CKL) survived a well-played opener with two eighth-inning runs. Drake Martin (2-2) earned the victory by recording the final three outs.

Brody Corbett singled home Bentley Corbett and Rhen Galla singles in Martin for a 2-0 lead. Nickerson's Riley Brawner singled in Rylan Morrell and Easton Clifford scored on Cam Welch's seventh inning single for a 2-2 tie.

Hunter Ingram scored on Martin's single and Bentley Corbett scored on Brody Corbett's single. Morrell scored on Fallon Rist's single for a 4-3 score. Martin retired Kristopher Monroe, Brady Newman and Clifford to strand Rist at second base. 

NICKERSON 12, CARDINALS 8 (G2) — Nickerson rallied with an 8-run fifth inning. 

Rist's double scored Corbin Shelton and Morrell. Dale Smith scored on a wild pitch. Rist scored on Brawner's triple. Brawner scored on Jaxson Almquist's bunt. Newman and Clifford scored on errors. Almquist scored on a wild pitch for a 12-6 lead. 

Hoisington's Thomas Higgins, Bentley Corbett and Layton Hoffman drove in runs.
