HOISINGTON – Hoisington tailback Wyatt Pedigo scored three touchdowns and gained 197 yards as the Cardinals roared past Hutchinson Trinity 30-0 in Friday’s 2A football quarterfinal.

Hoisington (9-2) earns a 2A semifinal rematch with No. 1 Phillipsburg (11-0) after losing 51-21 in their first meeting. The Cardinals reached the 3A semifinals in 2016 and lost 44-6 to Halstead.

“We’ve got redemption week coming up,” said Hoisington coach Zac Baird. “You fought every day and got better. You’ve gone as far as any team we’ve ever had at Hoisington. And it’s not done.”

Pedigo’s 42-yard run led to Mason Haxton’s opening 5-yard touchdown for a 6-0 lead.

The Cardinals gained back-to-back takeaways in Cardinal territory. Isaac Miller lost a fumble out of the endzone and Xavier Robinson intercepted a pass in the endzone.

Pedigo converted 1, 2 and 3-yard scoring runs and Robinson scored on a 40-yard run. The Cardinals’ only issue was five missed extra points.
