HALSTEAD – Hoisington pitcher Preston Roat (3-1) threw a 7-hit shutout as the Cardinals salvaged a split with Halstead 1-0 after the Dragons won the Central Kansas League opener 11-1. Hoisington (9-9, 7-7 CKL) drops Halstead to 6-10, 5-9 CKL).

CARDINALS 1, HALSTEAD 0 (G2) – Hoisington’s Marcus Ingram singled in Tony Moore for a fourth-inning run against Halstead pitcher Kaden Eskins.

The Cardinals’ Roat threw a brilliant 85-pitch outing with one walk.

HALSTEAD 5, CARDINALS 2 (G1) – Hoisington’s Moore scored the Cardinals run on a Dalton Gratton groundout.

Hoisington pitcher Mason Martin (2-3) was victimized by five Cardinal errors that led to nine unearned runs. Halstead’s Tucker Divine and Eskins each drove in three runs. The Dragons scored six sixth-inning runs.
