Catbacker scholarships to be awarded Thursday

Five graduating seniors attending Kansas State University will be awarded $1,000 scholarships during the Central Kansas Catbackers event Thursday at Stoneridge Country Club. Barton, Stafford and Pawnee County high school graduates were eligible to apply. The Central Kansas Catbackers have awarded scholarships since 2016.

Great Bend’s Alyssa Keller plans to pursue a business administration degree. She is the daughter of Kevin and Lori Keller. 

Hoisington’s Braxton Donovan plans to major in biology or kinesiology. He is the son of Shannon and Sherri Donovan.

Larned’s Macy Haas is an undeclared major who plans to explore subjects and gain experiences in different areas. She is the daughter of Charles and Tammy Haas. 

Macksville’s Jacob Suiter is planning a pre-pharmacy curriculum and will attend pharmacy school. He is the son of of Robb and Jody Suiter. 

Pawnee Heights Tiger Katie Amspacker plans to major in mechanical engineering. She is the daughter of Troy and Lana Amspacker. 

The Catbacker event features a four-person golf scramble with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The Central Kansas Catbacker banquet and dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. Kansas State related auction items will be available during the evening.

Special guests include Andrew Hamor, athletic director for development; Gavin Hargrave, director of alumni programs; and Susan Shipman, stewardship, hospitality and events director.
