The Great Bend Chiefs split a Friday night doubleheader with Hutchinson at the Great Bend Sports Complex. Great Bend fell in the opening game of the series by a score of 9-8. The Chiefs regrouped and delivered a 13-3 routing of the visitors in game two for the 1-1 split. Friday’s second game was called in the fourth by virtue of the mercy rule. At 9-8 on the season Great Bend will face Buhler to start a five-game road swing on Tuesday, June 23. The doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. The Chiefs return to the Great Bend Sports Complex on June 30 to host Dodge City.
