DODGE CITY – The Great Bend Chiefs split a Legion baseball twin bill against Dodge City Tuesday. The Chiefs (17-12) rolled past Dodge City 11-0 after losing the opener 2-1 in nine innings.

DODGE CITY 2, CHIEFS 1 (G1) – The Chiefs handed Dodge City two unearned runs with errors to waste a superbly-pitched ballgame by starter Layton Holden and reliever Alex Schremmer. Shortstop Schremmer and second baseman Riley Smith combined for a first-inning double play. Catcher Colin Hall threw out two baserunners on attempted steals.

Dodge City's Joey Montgomery singled home Alden Sowers with the winning run after back-to-back errors started the ninth inning. Dodge City pitchers Erubiel Duron and Damian Rodriguez held the Chiefs to five hits.

Great Bend's Townshend Kurth doubled home Calan Haberman for a sixth-inning run. Dodge City's Duron scored on Brian Holz' bunt after a walk and error on Gerardo Garcia's sixth-inning bunt.

CHIEFS 11, DODGE CITY 0 (G2) – Townshend Kurth drove home three runs and scored three runs to spark the Chiefs. Starter Joey Soupiset and reliever Calan Haberman combined for a one-hit shutout.

Carson Smith singled home Haberman and Schremmer and Kurth stole home. Carson Smith scored on Souipset's groundball for a 4-0 lead after one inning. Kurth's double scored Holden and Schremmer to ignite a five-run second inning. Soupiset, Riley Smith and Christian Zahnter earned RBIs on a hit batter, walk and groundball for a 9-0 lead.

Kurth singled home Schremmer and Hall singled in Kurth for an 11-0 third-inning lead.
