HAVEN – Haven converted Hoisington’s errors into five unearned runs that sparked the Wildcats’ 3-2 and 3-0 Central Kansas League softball sweep. CKL leader Haven (7-1, 7-1 CKL) drops the Cardinals (9-3, 7-3 CKL) into third place. Cardinal pitchers Jordyn Boxberger (5-2) and Ellie Crawford (4-1) combined to yield one earned run.
WILDCATS 3, CARDINALS 2 (G1) – Hoisington’s Mollie Steiner doubled home Boxberger and Steiner scored on Marly Brewer’s groundout for a 2-0 lead.
Haven’s Mayzie Warden reached on an error and scored on Sadie Estill’s double. Estill scored on Sophie Faidley’s groundout after a second Cardinal error for a 2-2 tie.
Steiner doubled and Kashlin Beck walked. But Haven pitcher Avery Brawner retired Crawford and Brewer to strand Steiner at third base.
Faidley tripled and scored on a Trista Rogers groundout
WILDCATS 3, CARDINALS 0 (G2) – Haven pitcher Brawner struck out four batters and threw a no-hit shutout.
Haven’s Warden and Estill both scored when Avery Brawner’s first-inning bunt was misplayed. Brawner scored Haven’s third run on a Cardinal error. Crawford struck out five batters.
