HAVEN — Haven's all-state pitcher Avery Brawner (7-0) struck out 10 batters and shut out Hoisington 2-0 to spark a Central Kansas League doubleheader sweep.

CKL leader Haven (12-1, 10-1 CKL) won the nightcap 8-2 to drop the Cardinals to 10-4, 6-4 CKL.

HAVEN 2, CARDINALS 0 (G1) — Haven centerfielder Mayzie Warden delivered the game's key play by throwing out Kelsi Maier at home on Myah Frederiking second-inning double. Hoisington's Avery Riese also doubled.

Hoisington's Brynn Tarlton (6-2) pitched brilliantly holding the Wildcats to two runs with five strikeouts.

Haven's Morgan O'Neal singled home Brooke Loop and Caeli Hunninghake in the third inning.

HAVEN 8, CARDINALS 2 (G2) — Hoisington's Frederking and Reese Vaughn both scored on passed balls.

Haven adjusted its second-game timing against Tarlton (6-3) by scoring five earned runs with three extra-base hits.

Ella Bontrager drove in two runs. Morgan O'Neal homered. Aubree Nikkel and Sierra Yoder drove in runs.
