CLAFLIN — Lawson Oeser and J.J. Heredia each scored 13 points and Central Plains upset No. 1 seeded LaCrosse 41-34 in Thursday's 1A Claflin basketball regional. The Oilers outscored LaCrosse 17-7 in the fourth quarter. Central Prairie League runner-up LaCrosse defeated the Oilers 39-33 during the regular season.

Central Plains (10-12) plays Sylvan-Lucas (15-6) in Saturday's championship game.

KINSLEY — After losing two lopsided games, the Pawnee Heights boys nearly pulled off an upset in a hard-fought 55-51 loss to Jetmore-Hodgeman County in Thursday's 1A Kinsley basketball regional. Pawnee Heights (9-12) lost 56-26 and 68-40 to Hodgeman County in two prior meetings.

Adam Hands led the upset-minded Tigers with 15 points and Fabian Flores added 13 points. Alec Carlson contributed 10 points, three steals and two assists.

Addison Crites scored 11 points with five steals and Brynna Hammeke added 10 points. Delaney Rugan had six steals.

The No. 7 ranked 1A Cougars (20-1) play Central Plains in the regional championship. LaCrosse was led by Patty Webster with 10 points.

ST. JOHN — St. John's Bree Meyer converted a trio of 3-pointers and the Tiger girls hit six field goals from long range to outscore Pretty Prairie 44-37 in Friday's St. John 1A basketball semifinal.

Bree Meyer scored 13 points and Darby Smith added 10 points in addition to solid ballhandling. Kaylynn Claussen added eight points. Pretty Prairie (15-7) wa led by McKenna Vogl with 10 points and Jorah Harbaugh with nine points.
