Cougars dominate first half cruising to 24-point victory over Planet Athlete

 Racing out to an early nine point lead the Barton Community College men's basketball team never looked back in a 94-70 victory Friday over Planet Athlete Academy at the Brown Mackie Classic held in Salina.   The Cougars held Planet Athlete to 30% first half shooting while dominating the boards to lead by eighteen at the break then extended the lead to twenty-eight before coasting the final ten minutes of play.  Barton improves to 4-2 on the season heading into Saturday's 1:00 p.m. rematch contest against Western Iowa Tech Community College, the same Comet team the Cougars defeated 83-65 last Saturday in Iowa.

Leading a 54-point contribution from the bench, Eddie Hunt scored a career high 22 points with eight rebounds knocking down 9-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe.  Anthony Smith recorded his first collegiate double-double scoring 11 points and a team high 10 rebounds while fellow bench mate Keith Mack added ten.  Leading the starting five in scoring was Ezekiel Charles and Jordan Windholz with ten each while point guard Derek Dorn distributing a career tying high of six assists.

Carlton Coleman was the lone Planet Athlete to reach double figures with eighteen points on 6-of-7 behind the arc before fouling out after only fourteen minutes of court time.
