DODGE CITY – When Great Bend’s Paige Thexton and DeShawnna Bryant got thrown out on the bases in a 1-1 tie, the momentum swung Goddard Eisenhower’s way. The Tigers outscored the Panthers 9-4 after the Panthers’ two baserunners were tagged out in the Dodge City Round-Robin. Maize South roared past the Panthers 10-3 in the second game.

"We had a poor inning in both games," said Great Bend coach Carrie Minton. "These types of games will make us better. This gives us an opportunity to see good competition."

EISENHOWER 9, PANTHERS 4 (G1) – Thexton reached second base in the third inning. Bryant led off the fourth inning with a double.

Eisenhower broke the game open with a 7-run sixth inning that featured three walks, a strikeout that saw Kadence Hall reach base and a fielder’s choice when no out was recorded. Tessa Carson delivered a 2-run single and Kylie Hahn hit an RBI single. Two runs scored on groundballs and a run scored on a wild pitch for four unearned runs.

Thexton singled and scored a first-inning run on an error. In a 3-run sixth inning, Bryant scored on a Alyssa McCauley single, Denver Ringo scored on Katherine Mazouch’s single and McCauley scored on Halle Post’s single.

MAIZE SOUTH 10, PANTHERS 3 (G2) – Maize South handed the Panthers back-to-back setbacks with a 10-3 victory at Dodge City. The Mavericks scored six runs in the third inning.

After 14 games, Kya Behr is batting .569 (29 for 51) and Bryant is hitting .543 (25 for 46) for Great Bend (11-3).
