ELLINWOOD  — Russell-Victoria overpowered Ellinwood in a 17-3 and 17-8 baseball doubleheader sweep. The Broncos delivered 28 hits in two games after trailing in both games.

Russell (8-6) plays Beloit Tuesday while Ellinwood (1-11) has lost 11 consecutive games.

RUSSELL 17, ELLINWOOD 3 (G1) — Russell scored 17 runs after trailing 3-0. Kyler Fritschen drove home four runs and Cooper Windholz drove in three runs. Kirk Huser, Caden Oberle, Brayden Ford and Rhett Pospichal each drove in two runs. Pitcher Josh Foster worked four innings.

Ellinwood's Ryan Niles scored on a first-inning passed ball. Cole Kubrick's double scored Kyler Doll. Kubrick scored on Woodson Corbett's groundball.

RUSSELL 17, ELLINWOOD 8 (G2) — Ellinwood led 5-1 after two innings. Russell's Cooper Windholz drove home four runs. Rohr, Walker Braun, Morgan Braun and Pospichal each drove home two runs. Ellinwood starter Gage Hosman was tagged for six runs.

Ellinwood scored five second-inning runs. Woodson Corbett scored on an error and Lane Klepper stole home for a 2-1 lead. Trey Schofield scored on an error. Ryan Niles scored on an error. David Hammeke scored on Corbett's bases-loaded walk.

Hammeke scored on Kubrick's fourth-inning groundout. Niles scored on a fifth-inning error and Kubrick singled home Hosman for an 9-8 score after five innings. But Russell scored twice in the sixth and six times in the seventh inning.
