Knights sweep Ellinwood

SALINA – Perennial 2-1A powerhouse Salina Sacred Heart powered past Ellinwood 11-0 and 9-2 in Tuesday’s season-opening baseball doubleheader.

KNIGHTS 11, EAGLES 0 (G1) –  Ellinwood’s Cohen Gunn and Trace Tudor singled for the Eagles two hits. Pitcher Bryan Jaske was tagged for two earned runs. The Eagles committed five errors.

Sacred Heart pitcher Evan Bogart struck out seven batters in four shutout innings. Jeff Samuelson tripled and drove home four runs. Leon Rowe and Cameron Yohe each drove in two runs.

KNIGHTS 9, EAGLES 2 (G2) – Ellinwood’s Bryan Jaske singled home Cohen Gunn in the fourth inning. He drove home Drake Hosman with a sixth-inning sacrifice fly. Tudor (0-1) was tagged with the loss.

Sacred Heart’s Luke Koland drove home three runs.
