ELLINWOOD GIRLS 48, MACKSVILLE 41

MACKSVILLE – Ellinwood’s Maddy Ward dominated inside with 22 points and splendid defense to spark the Eagles past pesky Macksville 48-41 in Friday’s Central Prairie League basketball game.

Mya Maxwell converted four 3-pointers and scored 17 points for Ellinwood (6-4, 2-2). Ward and Maxwell combined for 21 first-half points.

Macksville (2-8, 1-3) was paced by BrayLynn Anschutz with 19 points and a solid floor game. Super sub Brooke Smith and Jennifer Ortiz each scored seven points.

MACKSVILLE 50, ELLINWOOD 39

MACKSVILLE – The underdog Ellinwood Eagles played their best basketball of the season shooting 73 percent while building a 6-point first-half lead.

Macksville outscored the Eagles 25-8 after trailing for a 50-39 Central Prairie League basketball victory. The Mustangs scored 15 consecutive points for a 38-27 lead.

Kody Mead led Macksville (7-3, 2-2) with 23 points off excellent Mustang passing. Kaleb Lickiss added eight points and several assists.

Ellinwood (3-7, 1-3) was paced by David Hammeke and Luke Wondra with 12 points apiece. The Eagles converted 11 of 15 field goals for a 19-13 lead.
