SALINA – Scrappy Ellinwood pushed Salina Sacred Heart in a wild 22-19 softball loss after losing Monday’s season opener 12-2.

SACRED HEART 12, ELLINWOOD 2 (G1) – Ellinwood’s Emma Nienke singled home Kadie Bailey for the Eagles’ RBI. Bailey scored two runs.

Sacred Heart’s Katie Weiss and Alyssa Patterson each drove home two runs.

SACRED HEART 22, ELLINWOOD 19 (G2) – Ellinwood’s Kennedy Behnke and Kyndal Moore each drove home four runs in a wild nightcap. The Eagles nearly erased a 18-10 deficit with nine runs in the final two innings.

Zink drove home three runs and Bennett Jacobs drove in two runs. Bailey scored four runs and Behnke scored three runs. Jacobs, Moore and Behnke doubled. Behnke tripled.

Sacred Heart’s Emma Greenemeyer drove home four runs. Patterson and Addison Jones drove in three runs. Weiss, Karrigan Thompson and Edyn Sharpton each drove in two runs.
