KANSAS CITY, Mo. — League One Volleyball officials welcomed Ellinwood's 2A state volleyball championship Saturday to be recognized nationally at a professional match between Nebraska and Atlanta.
"What an incredible honor for our girls to be celebrated on a professional stage," said Ellinwood coach Greg Maxwell. "The Ellinwood Eagles enjoyed cheering on some of their Nebraska favorites (Lexi Rodriguez, Jordan Larson and Dani Busboom Kelly) and experience pro volleyball up close."
The highlight of the evening was getting to meet Jordan Larson is a 4-time Olympic medalist (2 golds, 2 silvers/bronze) with Team USA, a World Champion, and a LOVB Nebraska co-owner.
Featured photos included the Ellinwood Eagles with Dani Busboom Kelly, the Nebraska Cornhusker women's volleyball coach. Busboom Kelly has served as an ambassador for LOVB Nebraska who is a national volleyball champion and lifelong advocate for the sport of volleyball,
.Ellinwood athletes met with Dan Fisher, the University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team. He has built the Panthers into a national powerhouse, leading them to multiple NCAA Final Four appearances. He's earned five consecutive NCAA Final Four trips and has earned the 2024 AVCA Division I Coach of the Year award after securing the program's first-ever No. 1 ranking and overall NCAA seed.
