High school volleyball players received 12 hours of college-level instruction from Wichita State volleyball coach Chris Lamb and his staff during a recent camp at Ellinwood.

ELLINWOOD —Velocity Volleyball, Ellinwood Eagle volleyball, Ellinwood USD 355 and the Ellinwood Recreation Commission welcomed Wichita State volleyball coach Chris Lamb and his coaching staff for a two-day individual camp June 22-23.

High school players received 12 hours of instruction. Middle school and elementary age students received eight hours of training

“It was an awesome weekend,” said Greg Maxwell, Ellinwood coach and Velocity Club director. “It was a tremendous value for Division I collegiate instruction. We were happy to bring phenomenal coaches to Ellinwood to help more than 110 girls get better at the game they love.”

Maxwell said his personal experience at Wichita State’s camps convinced him to invite Lamb to Ellinwood.

“My daughters and myself have tremendous experiences and gained valuable knowledge and guidance at the camps at Wichita State University,” Maxwell said. “Those positive experiences are the reason I specifically asked them to come to Ellinwood so that all our girls could experience their leadership, expertise and instruction.”

Wichita State coach Chris Lamb is 2017 National Coach of the Year and a five-time Conference Coach of the Year. He guided the Shockers to a 20-0 AAC record in 2017. The Shockers have earned 11 NCAA Tournament appearances in Lamb’s 19 years at Wichita State.
