HOISINGTON 55, MINNEAPOLIS 19

HOISINGTON – Hoisington all-state tailback Wyatt Pedigo played the role of Superman with a career high six touchdowns as the No. 1 ranked Cardinals roared past Minneapolis 55-19 in Friday’s 2A, District 8 football game.

Pedigo scored five consecutive first-half rushing touchdowns on runs of 10, 12, 15, 30 and 75 yards. Pedigo started the second half with a 75-yard kickoff return for a 41-0 lead. Pedigo rushed for 198 yards.

Cade Mason converted a 28-yard touchdown run and Avery Brewer caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Mason Haxton.

“That’s the best football game we’ve played all year,” said Hoisington coach Zac Baird. “We played sharp. I’m super proud of the way we came out and played football.”

Hoisington (6-0, 3-0 District) has 23 takeaways in six games. Cole Steinert led the defense with an interception and fumble recovery. Joshua Ball recovered a fumble. The Cardinals play defending 2A state champion Phillipsburg (2-4, 1-2 District) after losing twice to the Panthers last season.

KIOWA – South Barber quarterback Trevor Rooks passed for two scores and rushed for two touchdowns to spark the Chieftains past Otis-Bison 48-0 in Friday’s non-league football game.

Gage Cantrell scored on a 4-yard run, a 30-yard pass and on an interception return. Caden Rathgeber caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Rooks.

Otis-Bison (4-2) rushed for 96 yards and passed for 29 yards with three interceptions. Bevan Gradig rushed for 29 yards and caught a 19-yard reception.

LITTLE RIVER – Little River’s Jayden Garrison scored four touchdowns and Graham Stephens scored three times as the Redskins roared past Macksville 48-0 in Friday’s Eight-Man 1, District 5 football game.

Garrison rushed for 65 yards and scored on a 71-yard kickoff return. Stephens gained 119 yards rushing with three rushing touchdowns.

Garrison and Evan Johanning each collected seven tackles.

Little River (5-1, 3-0 District) plays at St. John (0-6, 0-3) and Macksville (3-3, 2-1 District plays Skyline (5-1, 2-1 District) at home.

STERLING 55, ELLINWOOD 13

STERLING – Sterling quarterback Brady Myers rushed for three touchdowns and passed for three touchdowns to power the Black Bears past Ellinwood 55-13 in Friday’s 2A District 7 football game.

Myers scored on 1, 2, and 70-yard runs. Myers completed a 30-yard TD to Cade Wilkey, a 50-yard touchdown to Caden Bressler and a 73-TD strike to Donivin Hopewell. Tailback Alan Anderson scored touchdowns on runs of 35 and 75 yards.

Ellinwood’s Ryan Niles delivered the Eagles’ highlight play on a dazzling 87-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyler Doll. Tailback Eli Hernandez scored on a 60-yard touchdown run.

Ellinwood (1-5, 0-3 District) plays Southwestern Heights (3-3, 1-2 District and Sterling (3-3, 2-1 District) plays Lakin (5-1, 2-1 District).

PRATT — Skyline’s Braden Tyler scored three touchdowns and Eli Temanson scored twice as the Thunderbirds roared past Central Plains 46-0 in Eight-Man I, District 5 football. Tyler scored on runs of 8, 12 and 60 yards. Temanson scored on runs of 26 and 29 yards. Skyline (5-1, 2-1 District) clinched an 8-man playoff berth. 

The Oilers managed 16 yards rushing and five yards passing. Tyler Holmes and William Laymon each contributed seven tackles. 

Central Plains (1-5, 1-2 District) will clinch an 8-man playoff berth with a victory over Moundridge (3-3, 1-2 District).
