Great Bend’s Jillian Reimer lays it in for an easy basket.

DODGE CITY – The Great Bend Middle School 8th-grade girls basketball A team captured a 33-11 victory against Dodge City Middle School.

Jillian Reimer hit a free-throw to break the ice after 31/2 minutes.

“It took us a while to get things going, but once we hit our mark we played some good basketball,” said Great Bend coach Kyle Jeffrey.

The Panthers led by seven points after one quarter. DeShawnna Bryant scored 10 second-quarter points to spark a 25-5 halftime lead.  After halftime, GBMS took off the full court press and worked more on executing different plays rather than fast pace of the give-and-go offense.  The Panthers secured the 33-11 victory with a running clock.

Scoring for GBMS were DeShawnna Bryant (12), Darcy Feist (6), Jillian Reimer (5), Kara Feist (4), Cassie Ellegood (2), Josephine Mazouch (2) and Kylie McCormick (2).
