The Great Bend Middle School 8th grade girls basketball A-team opened their season with a dominating 40-4 victory over Dodge City Comanche Middle School.  

Starting the game with an aggressive press, which led to several turnovers, as well as strong rebounding, the Lady Panthers went into halftime leading 22-0.  

GBMS continued to execute both offensively and defensively, as the final buzzer sounded GBMS secured the win 40-4 over the Lady Coyotes.  

Leading the team in scoring was DeShawnna Bryant with 16 points, followed by Darcy Feist with 7, Cassie Ellegood 6, Kara Feist 5, Kylie McCormick 4, and Jordyn Harbaugh with 2. Josephine Mazouch, Jillian Reimer, and Myra Kurth all played exceptional, but were not able to get the ball to fall for them.  

“The girls did a great job of playing aggressive the entire game,” said coach Kyle Jeffrey. “They have worked really hard for two weeks. It was nice to see things come together as well as they did.  This is an experienced group that owes a huge thank you to several of their parents.”
