Great Bend Bats Cats sweep Andale

ANDALE – The Great Bend Bat Cats kept rolling with a 11-2 and 10-5 doubleheader sweep Friday over the Andale Warhawks. The Bat Cats (13-5) have swept seven consecutive games in the Sunflower Collegiate League.

BAT CATS 11, WARHAWKS 2 (G1) – -Sunflower League all-star starter Steven Beard (4-0) worked six solid innings with nine strikeouts.

Red-hot Brenden Tauber, doubled and delivered four hits and three RBIs. Chase Gibson tripled and drove home two runs. All-Sunflower all-star Luke Repka, all-star Collin Meinert and Hunter Romero each drove in one run.

The Bat Cats roughed up Warhawk pitching with three runs in the third, two in the fourth and fifth and four runs in the sixth inning.

BAT CATS 10, WARHAWKS 5 (G2) – Great Bend's Brady Michel tripled and drove home three runs to spark an 11-hit attack. Ryan Monson tripled and drove home two runs. Pitcher Carson Bell (1-1) worked six innings with seven strikeouts.

Repka, Zach Poe, Braden Carpenter and Meinert each drove home runs.
