Pitcher Koehn Ribordy (6-0) stayed unbeaten and struck out six batters to spark the Great Bend Bombers 16-and-under baseball team past the Salina Hawks Thursday at Al Burns Memorial Field. The Bombers played prior to the Great Bend Bat Cats doubleheader on Strike Out Cancer Night.
J.J. Grove drove home three runs with two hits.
The Hawks led 1-0 when Lawson Rassett singled home Jack Gordon. Bombers Trenton Kern and Campbell Coleman scored on Hunter Herrman's second-inning triple for a 2-1 lead. Grove singled home Trenton Kern in the third inning for a 3-1 lead.
Salina's James MacKinney singled in Leon Rowe in the fourth inning. Bomber Lane French singled home Ribordy in the fourth inning. Grove's double scored Trenton Kern and Coleman for a 6-2 final.
The Bombers (20-9-2) will compete at a National Level Super 16U event at Creekside Complex in Kansas City area July 13-16.
