Great Bend bowlers sweep Liberal

LIBERAL – Great Bend’s  Corbin Stanley (623) led the top four scores for the Panthers as they swept Liberal’s boys 11-0 in Tuesday’s Western Athletic Conference bowling match.

Stanley (224-220-179) led the Panthers to a three-game series sweep 803-745, 795-762 and 851-728.

Runner-up Bryce Moore (608), third-place Blake Sheets (604) and fourth-place A.J. Roberts (594) keyed Great Bend, last year’s 5A state runner-up. The Panthers swept the Baker games 181-165, 164-146 and 197-193 in three close games.

The Great Bend girls swept Liberal 11-0 behind medalist Kristy Wittig (501). The Panthers recorded the top five finishes with runner-up Paige Wagner (497), third-place Sarah Mehlhaff (444), fourth-place Nichole Griffin (441) and fifth-place Lexy Fox (424).

The Panthers earned a hard-fought three-game Baker sweep 135-118, 111-103 and 130-123, winning two games by one mark.
