Local soccer team places runner-up

OVERLAND PARK – The Great Bend Panthers United youth girls 14-and-under soccer team placed runner-up in the recent Kansas City 3-on-3 tournament. Kansas City, Mo. Primas defeated the Panthers 8-4 in the championship match.

Great Bend defeated St. Joseph, Mo. Tigers 12-1, Lawrence DVB Swift 6-2 and Kansas City, Kansas Piper 10-1 in pool games.

Team members are Natalia Rodriguez, Teegan Guerra, Valeria Cuevas, Xali Arias, Araceli Aguilera, Daniela Armendariz. Coaches are Marisela Segura, Juan Rodriguez, Juan Segura, Armando Leyva.

“We try to play the best teams we can outside our comfort zone,” said manager Marisela Segura. “We want to challenge each player and prepare them for middle school and high school. These girls are always ready.”
