Both the Great Bend boys and girls bowling teams started off their 2015 WAC seasons with home wins against the visiting Dodge City Red Demons. The Panther boys dominated the entire match as they earned all 11 points possible in the contest. The Panthers were led by senior Jeff Meitler who had an exceptional day. The senior captain for the Panthers rolled games of 200 - 278 – 265 in route to a first place finish with a 743 series. Senior Matt Black captured 2nd place honors by rolling a 610 series. The panthers outscored the visiting Demons 2460 – 2067. In bakers competition the Great Bend boys also swept the night as they won all three games with scores of 173 - 133, 212 – 148, 247 – 151.
In girls action the Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Demons with a point total of 7 – 4. Sophomore Allie Brodrick led all scorers by rolling a 609 series earning her a first place finish. Senior Abby Rose had the next highest finish for the panthers as she rolled a 506 series for a 4th place finish. The Great Bend girls outscored the Lady Demons, 2219 – 1955 in traditional play and won the overall score for the night with a 2758 - 2459 margin. The Lady Panthers lost a couple of hard fought bakers games but still salvaged enough points to win the contest. Both teams will be in action next Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. when they host the Garden City Buffaloes.
In junior varsity action both Panther Squads also earned victories. On the boys side Tylar Wagner finished in 1st place with a 509 series and Daegan Davis rolled a 432 series to earn 3rd place. The Panther boys won the contest with a point total score of 7-4. The Lady Panther junior varsity team also defeated Dodge City with a point total of 9 – 2. The Lady Panthers were led by Alex Snyder’s 461 series and 1st place finish along with Sydney Soukup’s 358 series and 3rd place finish.
