Great Bend Panthers earn WAC wrestling honors

Four Great Bend Panthers earned first-team All-Western Athletic Conference wrestling honors.

5A state runner-up Carsyn Schooler (34-10, 126); sixth-place George Weber (43-6, 138); third-place Gage Fritz (44-4, 145); and fourth-place Alex Randolph (37-8, 152) earned first-team All-WAC honors.

Earning second-team honors are sixth-place Wyatt Weber (35-14, 106) and state qualifier Avery Wolf (23-20, 113).

Garden City’s Carlos Prieto was Coach of the Year. Buffalo state champion Jacob Holt was Wrestler of the Year.

The Western Athletic Conference featured six 6A state wrestling champions – Dodge City’s Damian Mendez (41-7, 106); Couy Weil (37-11, 120); and Garrett Edwards (39-10,138); and

Garden City’s Silas Pineda (41-11, 113); Jacob Holt (37-3, 132); and Refugio Chairez (28-9, 285).
