HAYS – The Hays Indians used home-court advantage to sweep to the Western Athletic Conference volleyball championship. The Indians beat Great Bend 25-21, 25-15, Liberal 26-24, 25-20, Garden City 22-25, 25-16, 25-20 and Liberal 26-24, 25-20.
The Panthers (18-15) downed Dodge City 25-13, 25-18 and defending WAC champion Garden City 25-14, 25-17, but lost to Hays and Liberal 25-21, 25-18.
Great Bend is seeded 10th in the 5A West volleyball records and would play Andover (18-11) in the first round at No. 2 seeded (26-8).
