Greenbacks sweep Cardinals

PRATT – Defending Central Kansas league baseball champion Pratt overpowered Hoisington 10-0 and 7-1 to sweep Tuesday’s league doubleheader. Pratt (6-0, 4-0 CKL) travels to Nickerson (0-3 CKL) and Hoisington (0-4 CKL) plays Hesston (2-0) at home Friday.

PRATT 10, CARDINALS 0 (G1) – Pratt pitchers Matthew Shanline and Jayden Mies combined for a 3-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. Hoisington’s Leyton Haxton, Gratton Dalton, Tony Moore and Alex Elmore delivered singles.

Pratt’s Cesar Espino drove home four runs. Contributing RBIs were Shanline, Blake Coss, Kod Dipman and Dru Lunsford.

PRATT 7, CARDINALS 1 (G2) – The script was similar in the nightcap as Pratt pitchers Espino, Dylan Lunsford and Coss held the Cardinals to one run on six hits with nine strikeouts.

Hoisington’s Chase Steinert scored on a sixth-inning double steal with Moore. Cardinals Haxton and Moore each delivered two hits. Steinert and Ryan Galla each singled.

Pratt’s Matthew Hook doubled and drove home three runs with two hits. Also contributing RBIs were Coss, Mies and Grant Younie.
