Hesston sweeps Cardinals

HOISINGTON – Hesston starter White Rhodes struck out 15 batters to spark the Swathers to a 7-1 and 4-3 Central Kansas League baseball doubleheader sweep. Hesston (9-2, 7-1 CKL) drops the Cardinals to 3-7, 3-5 CKL.

HESSTON 7, CARDINALS 1 (G1) – Hesston’s Rhodes threw a 5-hitter and kept the Cardinals off balance. Marcus Ingram doubled home Rhen Galla for the Cardinals’ first-inning run. Tony Moore doubled and Mason Martin, Galla and Kaidenn Chambers singled.

Hesston’s Beau Warden, Rhodes, Aedan O’Halloran and Gunnar Lewis drove in runs.

HESSTON 4, CARDINALS 3 (G2) – Hesston’s Rhodes scored the game-winning run on a Cardinal fifth-inning error. Rhodes doubled home Blayne Wilson in the first. Warden singled home Lewis and Wilson scored on a third-inning error.

Hoisington’s Moore scored on a first-inning wild pitch. Moore tripled home Galla and Moore scored on an second-inning error.
