Larned Indians third at CKL tennis
HESSTON — Larned’s No. 1 doubles Macy Haas-Katelynn Sanger and No. 2 singles Audrey Manry each placed third to spark the Indians to third place in the Central Kansas League tennis tournament.
Haas-Sanger defeated Hoisington’s Emma Mooney-Marta Vara Rodriguez, 6-4, 6-4 for third place. Manry defeated Hoisington’s Brooke Steinert, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 for third place.
Larned’s No. 1 singles Kristin Anderson defeated Hoisington’s Audrie Harms, 9-1 for fifth place. Hoisington’s No. 2 doubles Bailee Bachar-Jacquelyn Gonzalez defeated Larned’s Cheyenne Lile-Corrie Upson, 7-5, 6-2 for third place.
Larned competes at the Cimarron 321A regional and Hoisington travels to WaKeeney for 321A regional tennis Friday-Saturday. The top six qualifiers advance to the Pratt 321A state tournament.
Hesston and Smoky Valley tied for the CKL girls tennis championship with 65 points. Larned placed third with 42 points.
Hesston captured No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles. Smoky Valley won No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles.
Smoky Valley’s No. 1 singles Kira Haxton defeated Hesston’s Halle Krehbiel 6-3, 6-0 in the finals. Hesston’s No. 2 singles Ashley Hubbard earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory Smoky Valley’s Isabelle Wright.
Hesston’s No. 1 doubles Kylie Martin and Michaela Martin cruised by Smoky Valley’s Rachel Yenni and Karik Elliott 6-2, 6-2 for the title. The Vikings’ No. 2 doubles Lana Clark and Morgan Bowles defeated Hesston’s Mackenzie Unruh and Alexia Bowles, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.
