HESSTON GIRLS 42, CENTRAL PLAINS 36

HESSTON – The Hesston Swathers scored the final nine points to shock No. 1 1A Central Plains 42-36 in Tuesday’s non-league basketball game. The Oilers led 36-33 when they lost momentum. The Oilers, who have won six consecutive state basketball titles, dropped to a 10-3 record.

Hesston’s Anna Humphreys scored five points, Caryn Yoder two points and Alex Martin two points as the Swathers converted five free throws in the final minutes. Yoder (12), Alex Martin (11) and Anna Humphreys (11)  scored in double figures.

Central Plains’ Brynna Hammeke scored 14 points and Kassidy Nixon added nine points.

HESSTON – No. 1 3A Hesston placed three players in double figures to roll past the Central Plains Oiler 72-24 in Tuesday’s non-league basketball game. Hesston (11-0) led 9-8 and went on a 31-0 scoring burst for a 40-8 lead.

Hesston placed Nick Arnold (14), Ben Bollinger (12), Ty Schroeder (10) in double figures. The Oilers (1-11) were led by Peyton Ryan with 15 points on five 3-pointers.
