HOISINGTON – Hoisington (3-0), Nickerson (2-0) and Hillsboro (2-0) swept matches at the Central Kansas League volleyball openers Saturday.

The underdog Cardinals downed Pratt 25-19, 17-25, 25-22;  Lyons 25-23, 20-25, 25-9; and Larned 25-10, 25-10 to start 3-0 on the season.

At Halstead, No. 7 state-ranked 4A Nickerson battled past Haven 23-25, 25-13, 25-13; and Halstead 25-20, 16-25 and 25-22 in a pair of hard-fought three-game matches.

At Lindsborg, Hillsboro surprised Smoky Valley 25-21, 18-25, 28-26 and Hesston 25-10, 25-16 to finish 2-0.

CKL 2020 FALL COVID GUIDELINES

These are the minimum guidelines that we, as a league, will be following at all sites. Obviously, if city/county guidelines are more stringent, those guidelines will need to be enforced and conveyed to the visiting schools.  These guidelines are subject to changes based on federal/state or local requirements.

  • ALL EVENTS

    • Essential personnel only on the field/court

    • No pre- or post-game fan gatherings on the field/court or other places inside the school facilities.

    • Modified post-game sportsmanship

    • No shared locker rooms

  • INDOOR EVENTS 

    • Masks will be required to be worn by everyone except the current activity participants

    • This includes, but not limited to, coaches, people at the score table and gate workers.

    • Social distancing as much as possible

  • OUTDOOR EVENTS 

    • Masks will be required to be worn for entry and where social distancing cannot be maintained.

    • For example: Concession stand lines, Restrooms, Spectators standing along the fence, etc… 

  • FANS

    • Each school will have their own policy on the number of fans attending their events. Fans need to check with their home school to find out attendance restrictions for away events. 

  • TEMPERATURE CHECKS

    • Teams will need to do temp checks prior to loading buses for away activities

  • STREAMING

    • Each school will do their best to live stream all varsity events

    • Schools are to inform visiting schools of the link to their live streaming
