Cardinals sweep Dragons

HOISINGTON – Hoisington pitcher Jordyn Boxberger struck out eight batters in the opener and the Cardinals completed a 3-1 and 12-5 Central Kansas League softball sweep over Halstead. The Cardinals (12-4, 10-4) drop Halstead to 6-10, 5-9 CKL.

CARDINALS 3, HALSTEAD 1 (G1) – Hoisington’s Kashlin Beck delivered the key plays with a run-scoring groundout that scored Ellie Crawford and a 2-run double to score Boxberger and Mollie Steiner in a 2-run fifth inning.

Halstead Brett Young singled home Emma Boese in the first inning.

CARDINALS 12, HALSTEAD 5 (G1) – Hoisington got the bats rolling in the nightcap. Crawford drove home three runs. Boxberger tripled and drove in two runs. Steiner doubled and drove in two runs. Beck doubled, tripled and drove in two runs.

Paige Lamatsch and Addyson Ogle each drove in a run.
