Great Bend golfer places ninth

WELLINGTON — Great Bend’s Cole Streck shot 235 (77-79-79) to place ninth in the 16-year-old division of the Kansas Junior Amateur Golf Championship. Streck carded two birdies during his three rounds at Wellington Golf Course.

Andover Central’s Cooper Schultz of Wichita shot 4-under-par 206 (68-69-69) to beat 6A state champion Sion Audrain from Garden City 213 (72-70-71).

Wellington’s Hannah Hawks, the 4A state golf champion at Wichita Trinity, won the Girls Junior Amateur with a 235 (80-82-73), four strokes ahead of Kate Tilma of Eastborough at 239 (80-80-79).
