Kansas Wesleyan pitched its way to the KCAC Softball Championshop by beating Tabor College 2-0 in Sunday’s first championship game at the Great Bend Sports Complex. Coyote pitcher Jordyn Parsons beat McPherson 3-2, St. Mary 2-0 and Tabor 2-0 in the tournament. Parsons threw a three-hitter with three strikeouts.
Coyote Sarah Hunger singled home Michelle Paul in the first inning after a single and two errors. Hunger’s sixth-inning sacrifice fly scored Jordan Girard, who tripled.
Kansas Wesleyan (34-14) and regular-season champion Ottawa will represent the KCAC in the NAIA Regionals May 15-17 at campus sites. First-round pairings will released Wednesday afternoon by the NAIA. Tabor finished with a 33-19 record. The Coyotes won the KCAC Championship three of the past four years.
TABOR 1, OTTAWA 0 (loser’s bracket final) — Tabor eliminated Ottawa 1-0 after beating the Braves 8-1 the first time they met.
