Kinsley loses baseball twin bill

KINSLEY – Bucklin swept Kinsley’s baseball team 4-1 and 7-6 in a thrilling baseball doubleheader. Several Macksville Mustangs travel 25 miles to play baseball with Kinsley in a co-op program.

BUCKLIN 4, KINSLEY 1 (G1) – Kinsley’s Conner Chamberlain delivered two hits and Woodrow Lancaster singled home Chamberlain, but the Coyotes were shut down by Bucklin pitchers Leighton Konrade and Jack Herd.

Bucklin’s Lucas Kirk drilled a 3-run first-inning homer after a walk and hit batter. Konrade scored on J.T. Prusa’s sixth-inning double.

BUCKLIN 7, KINSLEY 6 (G2) – Kinsley’s Diego Esparza doubled twice and delivered three hits and two RBIs in a hard-fought 7-6 setback. Woodrow Lancaster, Kendall Grippin and Peyton Schmidt also drove home runs.

Bucklin’s Jack Willems homered and drove home five runs. Willems singled home Prusa and Lucas Kirk with the tying and go-ahead sixth-inning runs. Kirk drove in two runs.

Mustangs join Kinsley baseball

KINSLEY – Several Macksville Mustangs will make the 25-mile trip to merge forces with the Kinsley baseball team in 2024 as part of a co-op program.

Kinsley returns six starters – LF/2B Hunter Castaneda, P/3B Peyton Schmidt, 2B/LF Cason Lemuz, P/1B/SS Conner Chamberlain, C/P Trenton Anderson, P/1B Efrain Holguin from the 2023 baseball team for coach Zac Stuckey.

A trio of Mustangs – Diego Esparza, Kendall Grippin  and Ty Clawson started in Kinsley’s opening baseball games.
